Why take the OLTOA course instead of our competitor's course?
The OLTOA Sea Kayak Course may be the most extensive sea kayak guide training course in the State. If you are looking for a comprehensive course that will show you how to guide a Sea Kayaking trip from soup to nuts then this is the course for you. This is a great course for people who are interested in leading trips as a profession or for people interested in leading events for kayaking clubs, organizations and/or groups of friends.
If you take the entire course you will have a total of over 100 hours in training. Half of your hours will be spent in a classroom and the other half will be spent either in your boat or on the coast camping and learning.
Our course is taught by Registered Maine Sea Kayak Guides who are also ACA Certified Sea Kayak Instructors.
We offer you the option of taking our full course or taking the basic course without the expedition training.
Full course is $1195.00 or $1145.00 with the Early Registration Discount. This is a 100 plus hour course which including our foundation SK Guide course and a 4-day kayak camping course
Foundation SK Guide course is 575.00 or 550.00 with the Early Registration Discount
This is a 60 hour course which includes a combination of classroom, pool rescues and Ocean time.
Note: For those of you interested in taking the State of Maine Sea Kayak Guides Exam; The State requires that you have 3 years kayaking experience and a Basic First Aid Certification to take the State Exam. For further information on this license please see:
